Wildlife of Assam

Duration: 4 Nights 5 Days

Day 1 - Arrive in Guwahati and transfer to Homestay. Afternoon enjoy a serene boat ride on Brahmaputra river to Umananda temple situated on Peacock Island known to be the smallest riverine Island in the world. One can expect to see the elusive and endangered Ganjetic River Dolphins during the boat ride. Overnight at Homestay.

Day 2 - Those interested can opt for a darshan to Kamakshya Shakti temple and then travel to Kaziranga National Park.Time permitting, a half day game drive in the National Park. Overnight at Jungle Lodge. Aptly called the ‘Serengeti of Asia, Kaziranga is home to the largest population of endangered One Horned Rhinoceros. The park harbors an incredible array of wildlife including Asiatic Wild Water Buffalo, Asiatic Elephants, Swamp Deer and Bengal Tiger. The birdlife counts as many as 400 species including many rarities such as Bengal Florican, Grey-headed Fishing Eagle, Swamp Francolin, Kaleej Phesant. Several species of endangered migratory ducks do gather here for wintering migration.

Day 3 - Morning and afternoon game drives in two different zones of the National Park. Stay at Jungle Lodge.

Day 4 - Early morning Elephant ride and then travel 2 hours to Jorhat. Check-in at Gibbon Homestay. After lunch visit to the historical ruins of Shibsagar – the erstwhile seat of the Ahom dynasty. Overnight at Homestay.

Day 5 - Morning enjoy a walking safari in Holongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary to look out for the endangered Primates including India's only Ape Western Hoolock Gibbon. Seven species of most endangered Primates of Asia are found here. Transfer to Jorhat or Dibrugarh airport.
