With the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) being in Darjeeling, rock climbing has always been a popular activity in the Darjeeling Hills and some parts of Sikkim. There are established natural rock sites which are used for rock climbing training and some virgin rock phases which lure the professionals, mainly for its location and challenge.
